How to tie a Half Windsor Knot

The Half Windsor Knot is a smaller and easier version of the Windsor Knot. The Half Windsor is a triangular and symmetrical knot that can appropriately be worn with practically any dress shirt. It can also work with anywhere from lighter to medium fabrics. In various places, the term half Windsor knot is used to refer to two separate ways to tie a particular type of tie. Both knots actually involves the same number of steps. So basically, if you can tie one of the knots, you already know how to tie the other one. Both knots looked very similar.

So how do you tie a Half Windsor Knot? Keep in mind that these instructions are the steps you should follow if you are standing in front of a mirror.

1. First you should make sure ties wide end is on your right side. The other side of the tie should be on your left side.

2. Take the wide end of the tie and cross it over the other end. These will form three different regions. This is the center, left and right.

3. Take the wide end of the tie and put it underneath the narrow end. This should be done from left to right.

4. Take the wide end and bring it over to the center region of the tie.

5. Take the wide end of the tie and bring it to the left region, under the knot.

6. Gong from the left region to the right region, take the wide end of the tie out from the shirt.

7. Take the wide end of the tie to the center region under the knot.

8. Take the wide end of the tie down and pass the loop in the front and make sure the knot is sufficiently tight.

9. Pull the narrow end of the tie down in a gentle manner. Move the knot up until it is snug against the collar.
