How to tie a Windsor Knot
On certain occasions it is necessary to wear a tie.
A lot of people don't know how to tie a tie but it is a skill that can
be learned easily with a little practice. The most common knot is the
Windsor Knot. This is the knot that you have most likely seen. If you
have worn a tie to a function, then you likely were using a Windsor
Knot.
So how do you tie a Windsor Knot?
1. Take the tie and put it around your neck with part of the tie hanging
on both sides of your neck. The wide end should be about a foot longer
than the narrow end. Form an "X" with the tie by placing the wider end
on top of the narrow end.
2. The next step is to take the wide end and put it under the "X" tat
you created in step one. Bring the wide end through the loop near the
top the "X". Then allow the wide end to drop down to its previous
position.
3. Take the wide end behind the "X" to the right. Then put it back
through the loop and once again to the right. At this point, the ties
wide end will be inside out.
4. Then next step will be to take the wide end across the from of the
"X". Do this from right to left.
5. Next take the wide end upward behind the "X" and through the loop
that is between the tie and shirt.
6. At this point, you will have a loop in the front. Put the wide end
and pull it down through that loop.
7. Tighten the knot until it is snug.
Keep in mind that when you first read these instructions, it may seem a
little confusing. The first time you attempt it, the results may not be
that great. Simply try a few more times and soon you will have no
problems tying a Windsor Knot.
